What is a vision board?
A vision board is a visual representation of your goals and dreams. It's a collection of images, text, and objects arranged in a way to help you manifest your aspirations into reality. (can be items, experiences, food, trips, auras, vibes, scenes, scapes)
Unlike a mood board, which is more focused on aesthetics, a vision board is about directing your life path and purpose. Whether physical or digital, it serves as a great tool to remind and inspire you towards your desired outcomes.
There are no strict rules to a vision board; it's something that should resonate with you
People often place their vision boards in visible places, like a wall they frequent, to reinforce their intentions regularly.
Whether you're aiming for personal growth, professional success, or both, a vision board can serve as a tangible guide towards realizing your dreams.
How vision boards helped me achieve my goals in life
I recently put up two vision boards on a wall on my way to the bathroom. At first I felt a bit materialistic putting up pictures of expensive products I wanted. But over time something interesting happened. I started noticing the experiences, the places, the activities, the energies and the overall vibe of the grand vision. And all the images started to blend into a cohesive vision.
Creating a vision board allowed me to clarify my aspirations and desires by visualizing them. I selected images and words that would resonate with my goals and the lifestyle I wanted to manifest. From there I was able to create SMART Goals that would help set me on the path to accomplish them.
How to make a (physical) vision board
Creating a physical vision board is a fun and creative process
Here's a step-by-step guide to making one:
Gather your materials: You'll need a poster board or cork board as your base. Additionally, gather magazines, newspapers, printed images, quotes, markers, stickers, and any other decorative items that resonate with your goals and aspirations.
Set the mood: Find a quiet and comfortable space where you can focus on your vision board without distractions. Play some inspiring music or light a candle to set a positive atmosphere.
Clarify your goals: Take some time to reflect on your goals and aspirations in different areas of your life, such as career, relationships, health, and personal development. Write them down to help you stay focused during the creation process.
Collect visual inspiration: Flip through magazines, newspapers, or browse the internet to find images, words, and phrases that resonate with your goals. Cut out anything that catches your eye and feels aligned with your vision.
Arrange your vision board: Start arranging your cutouts and other materials on the poster board. You can organize them by theme or mix them together in a collage-style layout. Get creative and experiment with different arrangements until you're satisfied with the overall look and feel.
Add personal touches: Use markers, stickers, glitter, or any other decorative elements to personalize your vision board and make it uniquely yours. Write affirmations or motivational quotes that inspire you to stay focused on your goals.
Display your vision board: Once you're finished, find a prominent place to display your vision board where you'll see it every day. This could be in your bedroom, office, or any other space where you spend a lot of time. Make sure it's easily visible so you can be reminded of your goals regularly.
Review and revise: Take time to review your vision board regularly and reflect on your progress towards your goals. You can add new images or adjust existing ones as your goals evolve or change over time.
Remember, the most important thing is to have fun and let your creativity flow!
